“Beautiful grounds and pool...”

We stayed at Alberto Villa Marta for 3 nights in July. We really enjoyed our stay there, the grounds were beautiful, the pool petite but welcome relief after a hot summers day tramping about Lucca.

The location was good, about a 15 minute drive to the nearest car park for the old town. parking is free onsite.

Breakfast was nice, our room was everything we expected a villa type room in Tuscany would be, modern yet atmospheric, with high ceilings and beautiful linen on the beds.

All in all, it was a great base to visit Lucca, Pisa, Asciano (where there are stunning sunflower fields), San Gimingano is even within reach.

What a gem this place is, beautiful surroundings, authentic villa with italian charm, fantastic staff who smile and cannot do enough for you. Food is great, prosecco is available with breakfast a nice touch. Lovely terrace to eat meals. Lovely pool.

This hotel is quite exceptional for the price. The rooms are beautifully decorated with fine attention to detail. They are also air conditioned and sound proof making them very quiet and peaceful. The hotel sits in lovely grounds with forest of tress and hills as the back drop. Best of all it is only a 10-15 minute drive from the walls of Lucca and the hustle and bustle contained therein. The staff are polite, welcoming and attentive. Everywhere is clean and well taken care of. The breakfast buffet is excellent - served on the terrace in summer. We are already planning our return visit.

“Hidden gem on the outskirts of Lucca”

We stayed at the Albergo Villa Marta for 2 nights as part of our summer vacation this year and on our way to Corsica. It's proximity to the ferries at Livorno and to the beautiful walled city of Lucca made us look for something just a little different than your average tourist hotel and this is exactly what we got.

The beautifully and tastefully maintained house sits in lovely gardens on the outskirts of Lucca. We borrowed bicycles from the hotel and were pleasantly surprised by just how close it is to the town center. At only 15mins cycle, I can highly recommend to leave the car and borrow the complimentary bikes for popping into town.

The pool is a very welcome feature and is well-sized and maintained. A nice way to cool off and relax after shopping til you drop in Lucca.

The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly, helpful and pleasant and are a benefit to the hotel itself. The restaurant is small but the food is really excellent and a must if you stay there at some point.

The room was comfortable, clean and cool. We both slept wonderfully as there was little to no noise from the other hotel guests during our stay. Something that I was happy to note as we had to leave at 5am on the day of our departure in order to catch our ferry to Corsica at Livorno. The night porter had been informed of our early departure and was ready with a croissant, coffee and a glass of fresh juice. Truly personalised service.

I would recommend staying for a peaceful and romantic alternative to a city centre hotel if you want to visit Lucca.

We stayed just one night during our tour of Tuscany and wished it had been longer. A beautiful small traditional Tuscan hotel situated a few miles outside Lucca. Our room was very comfy, with excellent wifi coverage and air con. The hotel restaurant was full, but the manager recommended we visit La Cecca restaurant which is 500m down the road. This was an excellent recommendation. Breakfast in the terrace was very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

We just stayed here for a week, and had a wonderful visit. The hotel is peaceful and relaxing.Lovely gardens and a beautiful pool. The air conditioning and wifi in the room were excellent.Breakfast was outside on the terrace, with a view of the mountains. It was very easy to drive into Lucca from the hotel, and for us far more pleasant to be staying in this lovely old hunting lodge, than in town. The best thing of all was the wonderful staff in the hotel, they were extremely pleasant, helpful, friendly and welcoming. So a big thanks to them all!

Beautifully appointed small Albergo. The rooms are stylishly furnished. Everything is clean and bright. There are books and magazines in common areas which are useful. The staff and friendly and helpful. There is a small swimming pool which is big enough given the small number of guests. A big bonus is the restaurant is excellent. The breakfast was amazing - something for everyone, for every nationality.

Just returned from my latest annual visit to this wonderful place and as usual I really did not want to leave. The management were kind enough to give me my regular room high was as comfortable as ever. The real joy is that the Albergo does not try to be anything it isn't. What you get is a very comfortable place to stay in a wonderful location with fantastic staff who welcome me back with open arms every year. Pre-dinner drinks in the cabana or the garden is a real treat, and the food in the restaurant was as good as ever. Just waiting for Tuscan Tennis to confirm their dates for next year so that I can book my next stay! Roll on next August!
